Following the recent strategic MOU with NVIDIA, the research team at Yonsei University achieved a significant milestone by demonstrating eight core AI-RAN and 6G prototypes at IEEE Globecom 2025 (held in Taipei, Dec 7–11). This large-scale live demonstration marks the first major output of the collaboration, positioning Yonsei as a global hub for AI-RAN research.

The showcased technologies covered a comprehensive full-stack infrastructure, ranging from AI modeling to RF hardware:

  • Energy-Efficient RAN: A reinforcement learning-based system that achieved an additional 33% energy saving compared to standard RF on/off switching.

  • Advanced Communications: Including Secure Semantic Communications, Semantic 6G Waveforms, and Fluid/Tri-Hybrid MIMO.

  • Next-Gen Infrastructure: A 5G vRAN-based AI-RAN platform and high-performance RF systems for 6G.

  • Hyper-Realistic Digital Twins: Demonstrating modeling capabilities that more closely reflect real-world radio environments.

  • Physical AI: Hybrid LLM/SLM inference-based robot control and MIMO beamforming.

This demonstration was the result of close collaboration with industry partners such as Senserview and Emerson/NI. Through these achievements, Yonsei University continues to lead the way in Physical AI and 6G research, reinforcing its status as a premier global research hub.
